Dominic Thiem has been a revelation on clay this season, rising to 7th in the world, and 4th in the clay specific rankings. He has racked up an excellent 18-2 winning surface record over the past two seasons against players ranked 10th-50th and 20-1 versus those ranked 50th-100th. Quite something.

So it might surprise you to learn that we are backing Novak Djokovic in their meeting on Tuesday, despite him looking someway short of his best form this week.
The reason is all down to their head-to-head records and most notably, their two matches on clay over the past 12 months. Djokovic has won 11 of the 12 sets between the men, and when it comes to clay courts, has won all five sets.
He won their meeting in Rome 6-1 6-0, and last year on these courts when he ran out 6-1 6-2 6-4 winner in the semi-finals. It would be a great shame for Thiem to go out at this stage, but ultimately, the 8/15 on Djokovic looks too good to turn down, and there will be plenty more opportunities for the Austrian to redress the balance in the future.
Novak Djokovic to beat Dominic Thiem at 8/15
