Wimbledon Mens Day 1 Tips

We’ve never been big fans of Fabio Fognini on grass. It’s not exactly his favourite surface, and his temperament has also had a habit of letting him down on more than a few occasions. But he looks value to destroy Dimitri Tursunov when the pair meet on Monday.

Tursunov has not been playing professional tennis for a year, so this will be an enormous step up. He turned out in the Australian Open in January for a one off, but that’s been his only outing since Canada in 2016, and has all the hall marks of a man willing to cash in on the big pay days before it’s too late, but not coming with any expectation other than receiving his cheque.
His last professional victory came in March 2016, and he hasn’t even played a warm up event ahead of Wimbledon, which for a man who has been out so long really says it all. With a huge gulf in their world rankings, no recent practice for Tursunov and the motivation for Fognini to reach the second round, this looks a no brainer – back Fognini to win 3-0 and hope that Tursunov doesn’t retire if the going gets tough.
Fognini to win 3-0 against Tursunov at 11/8
