Greenbrier Classic

After a year away from the tour following the devastating floods, the Greenbrier is back with a new looking course for 2017. It’s always been a challenging track, which particularly rewards those players who are strong in and around the greens. We don’t expect that to change much this year.

Our first pick is Keegan Bradley at a tempting 28/1. Bradley ranks 20th on tour for Greens in Regulation, and 45th for Birdies or Better – both key stats around this place. His overall driving quality is his huge weapon of course, and while distance isn’t essential here, control off the tee is, and Bradley is 4th on Tour for overall driving. Those stats, combined with a fifth place at the Quicken Loans last weekend, and an 8th at the Travelers recently, plus a previous fourth place finish here in 2014 make him a sound bet this weekend. 33/1 is available, but we’re tipping the 28/1 with Corals to benefit from the 7 places (1/5 odds) they offer.

Another man who goes well on these sorts of courses is Tony Finau, and while we tipped him unsuccessfully recently, we’re prepared to give him another chance this week. He finished 13th here on his only visit in 2015, and is having a pretty reasonable 2017 – currently 31st in the FedEx Cup and ranked 67th in the world. Finau has continued to improve ever since winning his tour card for 2014, and his world ranking has never been higher.

Like Bradley, Finau ticks the right boxes for this event. 6th for Greens in Regulation and 10th for Birdies or Better, he knows how to keep his scoring low. While he isn’t quite as good off the tee, he is 38th for overall driving and that’s nothing to be sniffed at.

Recent form has been steady enough this season with eight top 25s and four top 10s in 21 starts. At 33/1 he looks worth including in your plans - again with Corals for the enhanced each way places.
