Luton to upset the Tractor Boys

Rebranded, but just as loathed by Championship managers as ever, the Carabao Cup should surely see it's fair share of shocks on Tuesday evening.

We'll start down at Kenilworth Road where hopes will be high amongst the Luton squad that they can put Ipswich Town out in the first round. Having spent no money over the summer, and holding a weaker set of cards than last season, Mick McCarthy could be forgiven for sending an understrength team down to Luton, and it's something we strongly expect him to do- Ipswich have a habit of exiting this competition early in the season:
2016/17 - 1st Round defeat to Stevenage
2015/16 - 3rd Round defeat to Man United
2014/15 - 1st Round defeat to Crawley
2013/14 - 1st Round defeat to Stevenage
2012/13 - 2nd Round defeat to Carlisle
2011/12 - 1st Round defeat to Northampton
Mick McCarthy took over in November 2012 of course, so much of that madness/shrewdness is as a direct result of his selection decisions. The Yorkshire man has already ruled out at least five of the 11 starters from the first game of the season with knocks, and a few more following would be no surprise.
Luton bagged eight goals on the opening day of the season, and although they are likely to make one or two changes as well, their reasons are much more around giving competitive players a run out, rather than specifically saving their first XI for next week. They should be full of confidence and raring to go.
Luton to beat Ipswich at 13/8
