West Ham v Huddersfield

Monday Night Football returns this week as West Ham welcome Huddersfield to town. David Wagner was awarded the Manager of the Month award in August, but we're not quite as convinced about their three opening performances as those who voted.

This match represents two sides who have opened in polar opposite ways so far. While Huddersfield have seven points already in the bank, they have been hugely fortunate to have done well. They got their tactics spot on against Crystal Palace, soaking up the pressure before hitting them quickly. Running out 3-0 winners wasn't part of the plan, but Palace's lack of killer instict ultimately decided that encounter - they won the shot count 14-8. The Terries then played host to Newcastle, winning 1-0, but again it was veyr much against the run of play,. The 0-0 with Southampton probably was a fair point of course, and it might have been more on another day.
West Ham by contrast have nothing to show for a number of decent performances. Not a single point. They have however faced three away trips on the spin, so there isn't reason for any panic yet. A 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford can be easily understood, and they then went to Southampton and created no fewer than 16 goal scoring chances - although did only get one on target ultimately.
The Hammers collect a decent 17 points from their nine games against bottom half sides last season (5 wins, 2 draws 2 defeats), so odds of even money look fair enough about them getting their season off and running this week.
