League Two Best Bets

League Two has been kind to us this season, especially with the away sides, and we fancy a couple more this weekend.

We start up in Accrington, where we hope Coventry’s mean defence can pass another test having already returned clean sheets at Grimsby, Chesterfield and Barnet this season. While it’s true that the Sky Blues could do with becoming a little more prolific in front of goal, they are carving out chances, so things should surely start working soon, and they will usually need no more than a goal or two to secure a full points haul.

Accrington have a +6 goal difference so far this season, which has moved them up to a commendable 6th place in the table, but their conversion metric has been off the scale - scoring on average, a goal for every 6.4 shots. That’s a number which is certain to regress towards a more reasonable average for the division (8.5 ish) which would certainly have an impact on their league position. You can still get 13/10 with Betfair Sportsbook on the away side, and that looks value.

Staying with the away sides, Crawley look a big price at longer than 2/1 when they take the trip up to Grimsby - a side who have enjoyed a fair share of good fortune lately. The Mariners won 2-1 at Port Vale last week, despite the home team enjoying the majority of the ball and chances, and scraped out a 0-0 draw at home to Lincoln despite again being second best.

Crawley have been producing better performances, and while they might be a lowly 18th in the table, they have won three of their six away ties this campaign and shouldn’t be as big as the bookies suggest in this one. The money is starting to come, and we don’t see the 9/4 lasting too much longer into the weekend, so it’s probably time to strike out now on an away side in a division which always seems easier to travel than most.

For a home side, Colchester make plenty of appeal at 11/8 when they host Carlisle. The Us have scored 13 for just 6 against at the Weston Homes Community Stadium this season, including beating the well regarded Mansfield 2-0 last weekend.

While it’s unlikely to be a classic season for Colchester fans, it could be a lot better than the campaign ahead for Carlisle. The Cumbrians just aren’t firing in front of goal at all - they have drawn blanks in five of their last eight, including losing to the Leicester Academy U23 side. It’s a long old trip from Carlisle to Colchester which is another negative for the visitors.

Get with Colchester is the advice in this one. Our model brings them out much close to even money then the 7/5 available with Bet365 or WilliamHill.

Finally, we’ve been happily backing “Over 2.5 Goals” in Wycombe matches for much of the season, and their home tie with Exeter looks another worthy bet, despite it shortening into 4/5 (and likely shorter with just SportingBet still standing their 4/5).

11 of Wycombe’s 14 matches have seen three or more goals this season, including each of the last five, and of those 14 no fewer than nine have had at least four goals.

Exeter have been equally entertaining with eight of their 15 hitting the three goal mark, and five reaching four or more. The best players here look to be Over 2.5 Goals and Over 3.5 Goals, splitting the stakes.

1pt Over 2.5 Goals in Wycombe v Exeter at 4/5 (SportingBet) - 8/11 is acceptable

1pt Over 3.5 Goals in Wycombe v Exeter at 19/10 (SportingBet) - 7/4 is acceptable
