There are a host of more appealing fixtures on the Tuesday night card, but our pen has come to rest on this EFL Trophy match which sees another League One side trying to get one over the kids of a bigger side. It's a tried and tested route to riches, so we are going to keep the faith and back Wigan in this one.

The Latics needed penalties to see off Blackpool in the opening round, and will fancy a victory here to step towards qualification from the group. This is a trophy they can win, so motivation should be there, although it's true they are likely to rotate the starting XI somewhat.

Boro U21 lost at Accrington in their opening round and this is certainly a tougher prospect than that - the academy sides have such a woeful record in this competition that Wigan simply have to appeal at 5/6 with William Hill.

1.5pts Wigan to beat Middlesbrough at 5/6
