Day 8 of the World Championships won’t feature a preliminary match, so we have four high calibre matches. Nothing stands out in the opener between Cristo Reyes and Antonio Alcinas, so we’ll move straight into Kim Huybrechts v James Richardson.

Huybrechts is the firm favourite, and while his form has been sketchy at times, James Richardson isn’t a world beater by any stretch of the imagination and should be a player the Belgian can deal with easily enough. We won’t be steaming into the 1/3 however!
As well as being favourite to progress, Huybrehcts is also a solid favourite to hit the most 180s in the match - as short as 4/6 in some places. Richardson is a pretty heavy scorer though, and he’s being underrated in this market with the Betfair Sportsbook offering 2/1 about him getting the most maximums. That looks a spot of value and is worth a minimal investment.
When it comes to checkouts, Huybrechts is a solid 16s man. In fact, he checks out around 27% of his winning legs on 32 - nearly twice as many as he aims at tops. We can only get 10/3 on the match winning double being d16, which isn’t long enough to tempt us to play, but Betfred’s 7/4 on the match winning colour being Green is just big enough to warrant a small interest.
0.5pts Richardson to hit more 180s than Huybrechts at 2/1 (Betfair)
1pt Match Winning Double Colour Green at 7/4 (Betfred)
Match three sees Darren Webster face Devon Petersen. The South African has been pretty ordinary lately, and Wesbter should definitely fancy his chances - he’s the bookies 1/4 favourite though, so there isn’t an angle in the match betting.
The first market of interest is the highest checkout market, with Sun Bets offering 8/11 that Webster gets a higher checkout than Petersen. Given he’s likely to win a few legs more than Petersen, and that he’s a pretty handy finisher, that looks a decent value bet in our eyes.
We also like the 3/1 offered by Betfred on d20 being the match winning double. Webster loves tops and has an excellent record on it over the years. He will almost always set up the finish whenever he gets the chance, so it would be a surprise if he didn’t at least throw at it, so we’ll take a chance at the fair odds and back it.
1.1pts Webster to get highest match checkout at 8/11 (SunBets)
1pt Matching Winning Double to be double 20 at 3/1 (Betfred)
