French Ligue 1

It's a quiet night for football on Wednesday, so we've hoped over the Channel for a quick look at the Ligue 1 fixtures with a couple of picks looking value.

First off, Rennes travel to Lille, and whilst at first glance you wouldn't want to be with the visitors given their recent form, a second look shows that of their four recent defeats, two have come at the hands of Paris St Germain, one away to Monaco and one against fourth placed Marseille.
This therefore looks a perfect opportunity to get back to regular sorts of results, and with just three home wins from nine matches this season, Lille's Stade Pierre-Mauroy is far from a fortress this season.
With Lille as short as even money in some places, we can get 3/1 on Rennes, which is enough to tempt us out to play.

We also like the look of bottom side Metz at around 6/4 to beat St Etienne. It's been a tough season for the hosts, with just 12 points on the board so far, but eightof those have been collected in the last four matches, so the signs are strong that they can turn the corner.
They've brought in a couple of loan signings from Belgium and Czech Republic, and whilst we won't pretend to know anything about them, it's clear the club want to fight from here.
St Etienne are 11 points better off in the table, but given they grabbed nine points from their first three matches, it should arguably be a lot bigger than that. They have now lost six of their last ten and haven't won on the road since September, so they must be viewed as a prospective source of points for Metz.
