League One - Best Bets

We’ll kick of League One down at AFC Wimbledon, where we are going to be making a case for Blackpool - perhaps not the easiest task about a side who have won just once in their last 13 matches.

We’ll start by pointing out that over half of those have ended in ties, meaning they have actually only lost five times in the run, but that may not be enough to convince our entire audience. They’ve proved tougher to beat recently with back-to-back clean sheets, and also demonstrated their fighting spirit with a last gasp equaliser to draw 2-2 with Plymouth (remember who we were on in that one at tasty prices??? d’oh).
No, this bet is all about the shot data. They won the shot count against Bristol Rovers (0-0), Oxford (lost 1-0), Rochdale (won 2-1), Plymouth (2-2), Scunthorpe (lost 3-2) and Charlton (1-1), so luck has clearly played a pretty significant role on their lack of success.
As for AFC, they have definitely improved as the season has gone on, but they remain inconsistent and have already lost six at home this campaign. At a best price of 11/8, they are surely being overrated, and Blackpool look a better shout at 23/10 with Sky Bet, Bet Victor or Betfair.
1pt Blackpool to beat AFC Wimbledon at 23/10
We're also going to take a leap of faith, and go against Wigan this week as they make the long trip to Home Park to face Plymouth.
The Pilgrims have been an improving force in recent weeks, and a little stability around the team seems to have made all the difference. Wigan look like going off at close to 4/7, which is incredibly short for any away side in this division, regardless of how impressive they have looked all season.
Plymouth are eight points off the play-off spots now, and while that might sound an impossible task, such is their form it's not entirely out of the question (mega long shot tip coming up.....).
They've won five and drawn three of their last eight, are out of all cup compeitions now and can focus fully on the task ahead.
Wigan have been in excellent form themsevles - unbeaten in 13 now - and showed their class by beating Bournemouth 3-0 despite playing a few fringe players in that one, but the opportunity to back a side like Plymouth, with home advantge and a goal head start on the handicap at odds-against prices is simply too tempting as a combination.
1pt Plymouth (+1) to beat Wigan at 29/20 with Coral
0.5pts Pymouth to finish in the Top 6 at 150/1
2pts Plymouth to finish in the Top Half at 9/2
