League One Best Bets

We'll start our run around League One up at Wigan, where the Latics welcome an in-form Gillingham side, and we think Gillingham come here with a punchers chance of nicking something from the game.

Wigan have been chalked up as the 4/11 favourites, but that's a curious bit of confidence from the layers about a side who have failed to score in their last three league games at the DW Stadium. It will certainly be an interesting battle. On the one hand, you have Wigan, a side with eight clean sheets in their last ten - two of which came against Premier League sides.

Then we have Gillingham, who have scored in each of their last 10 away games, and have notched seven in their last three. Something has to give, and we reckon it could be that the Gills take something away. They can be backed at 12/5 on the +1 handicap, and 5/6 on the +2 line.

Perhaps an easier equation to unravel is what to expect when Southend travel to Peterborough, which should surely be a match full of fire.

Southend's last ten matches have seen the following goal counts: 5,3,4,2,3,4,4,3,3,2 0 and they have conceded 22, losing eight of them. The games have seen an average of 3.3 goals per game.

Peterborough by similar vein show numbers of 6,6,3,0,0,4,2,1,4,3 - an average of 2.9 goals per match, and the three matches prior to that spell added a further 17 to the tally!

We should surely be in for a treat here, and we expect Peterborough to win through as well.
