League Two - Best Bets

There aren’t a whole heap of bets begging to be backed in League Two this week, but a couple of small ticklers should keep us going until the next round of fixtures in midweek.

Starting at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry should be a class above 2nd bottom club Barnet. At first glance, the Sky Blues form has really dipped lately, and you can understand why the layers might be happy to take them on after just one win in six, but it’s important to consider how those fixtures have fallen, with five away trips within the month of February, and not easy ones at that. Coventry have played at Bright, Mansfield, Wycombe and Colchester, and also tackled 2nd placed Accrington in that run.
Barnet haven’t done a great deal all season, and it’s quite possible they are being a touch overrated after an away win at Colchester last time out – a match which saw them register just one (all important) effort on target! A longer-term view could be presented as just two wins and 8 defeats in 13 matches, and on that effort, Coventry surely have to be fancied at 11/10.
1pt Coventry to beat Barnet at 11/10 (Bet365, Boylesports, Betfair)
Our other pick is Yeovil in their match with Newport down at Huish Park. The Glovers have been inconsistent this season, but are nevertheless eight points clear of the relegation zone and should be plying their trade in League Two again next season. Home form has been important this season, with 28 of their 38 pts coming on their own ground. In games against sides in the bottom half, that record increases to 5-3-1.
Newport are in a similar mid-table position, but are now without a win in nine games, and haven’t scored a goal in their last four away matches. The bookmakers are struggling to separate the pair, which given home advantage and better form is surprising. We’ll do the job for them, and back Yeovil in this one.
2pts Yeovil to beat Newport County at 7/2 (Bet365)
