The Lincoln

Cheltenham is barely behind us, and we are back on the flat! Racing heads to Doncaster for the big-field Lincoln Handicap, and we are back with a couple of big prices to follow.

Our Picks

We shall dive straight in - Sky Bet and Coral are paying 6 places, so there is no excuse for not chucking a couple of arrows at this. We'll lead out with Leader Writer, who looks to have been ideallt drawn in 21 - the higher stalls have always enjoyed an advantage here when the ground softens up.

Additionally, trainer Harry Spiller is in great form right now and he always finishes supremely well, while he's a proven performer over the trip already. The 11/1 with Coral just has to appeal.

We'll also tickle Ballard Down at 12/1 with Sky Bet. It's his first trip out since winning at Newmarket last summer, and can defy the nine pound penalty that he carries for that performance. He matches perfectly the sort of profile we look for in a winner of this race and its hard to see him far off.

Finally, we'll also back Repercussion, who is another who won last time out at Newmarket - smashing up by five lengths in a class three race. He hasn't seen a lot of action on these shores, and there is every chance he could still have plenty more to give, and he could benefit from being drawn in close to front running Hayadh.
