The dust has barely settled after Arsene Wenger's emotional exit, and already we have a solid favourite to succeed him. Step forward Mikel Arteta.

The Spaniard only left Arsenal as a player a couple of years back, having played over 100 games for the Gunners and have spent the last 18 months as assistant manager to Pep Guardiola at Man City.
For him to have been offered that role is high praise in itself, but you have to feel this would be a bold first step into full management and it's hard to imagine this coming to pass. That hasn't stopped UniBet making him their ODDS-ON favourite (at 4/5) and Sky Bet chopping him into 5/4.
It's reasonable to expect that Wenger will already have been working on his contingency plan before departing and we're unlikely to see a long drawn out affair, and as a result, we're not laying the Spaniard. I don't think we'll have a five month search with multiple favourites in this one.
Brendan Rogers is the second favourite at 7/2, and he might relish a return to a hotseat where European success is also possible alongside domestic glory.
Massimilliano Allegri is no longer than 7/1 at time of writing, while Julian Nagelsmann is next at 12/1 - but at just 30 years old has this job come too soon in his development cycle? He's currently boss at Hoffenheim, and having been in management for six years could be more experienced than his years suggest. Could he be the next academic to take control?
