Both Birmingham and QPR find themselves in early difficulties at the foot of the Championship – the Blues in 21st and QPR in 22nd, but our data suggests that panic shouldn’t yet be setting in for Birmingham, but that QPR could be set for a season of troubles – something perhaps evident by their activity in the loan market on Friday afternoon. It’s always hard to gel new players in immediately, so we won’t get too hung up over those signings just yet and base our thoughts on what we’ve seen so far from the sides.

Birmingham have a positive 71-49 shot count over the season (and 26-16) for on target efforts. It’s certainly fair to say they missed an opportunity to take the points against Swansea a fortnight ago, and the same was probably true at Bolton, where the hosts rode their luck in a 1-0 win.

QPR have lost both their away matches (getting smashed 7-1 at West Brom of course), while their only win of the season was achieved against the run of play against Wigan. There could be a gulf between these sides at St Andrews.

I’m really keen on the home side then at double-your-money prices and see no real reason that this one will be a close encounter.

2pts Birmingham to beat QPR at Evens (General)
