MK Dons v Macclesfield

There is little doubt that Macclesfield are in a whole heap of trouble this season. Just one league win all season (plus the dubious bonus of an EFL Trophy victory) and seven defeats in their last nine matches paints a sorry picture. Despite a shocking record of 2-7-15 in all competitions, they have at least found the net in 16 of those 24 matches, which at least gives them something to build on.

That has led to plenty of matches going “Over 2.5 Goals” this season – 15 of their 24 all in, including 12 of their last 17. It’s definitely a noteworthy statistic ahead of their match at MK Dons this weekend, who are another side who aren’t shy about coming forwards.

The Dons are enjoying a much better season of course – 10-8-5 in all competitions, so it’s no surprise to see them going off as 4/11 favourites in this one. 11 of their 23 have seen three or more goals, and more recently their last three games have produced 13 goals, and six of their last nine have gone “Over 2.5 Goals”.

That’s our plan of attack in this one, and the 4/6 available about the match seeing three or more goals looks a cracking bet, in a weekend where not a great deal is leaping off the page from the limited action available to us.

2pts Over 2.5 Goals at 4/6 (General)
