Newcastle U21 v Macclesfield

It's a very similar narrative to the Chelsea U21 v AFC Wimbledon match, and we believe Newcastle can continue their good run this seaosn with victory over a Macclesfield side who could do without the distraction of the cup.

The Silkmen have just appointed Sol Campbell of course, ensuring a little of the Sky Sports limelight has been shined on the League Two side, but the ex-Arsenal man has a big job in turning things around - Macclesfield have collected just 13 points from thier opening 20 league games.
As far as this competition goes, they are probably no more than ambivilent to their continued participation. A penalty shoot-out result the other way, and they'd be out already and concentrating on the league, but as it was, they qualified behind Accrington despite a -2 goal difference from three matches.
As for Newcastle, despite playing all three group matches away from home, they cruised through, beating Grimsby, Doncaster and Notts County in turn. They scored eight goals in those three games and conceded just three. With a regular and settled side (no fewer than 12 players have played a part in all three of their EFL Trophy matches this season), it's worth siding with the hosts here.
2pts Newcastle to beat Macclesfield at 5/6 (General)
1pt Newcastle (-1) to beat Macclesfield at 11/5 (General)
