Oxford United have won 10 of their 21 home games this season, and it is most definitely their away form which has led to the season fizzling out earlier than some fans would have hoped – winning just three times on their travels. They do however have a few opportunities to upset the fortunes of others, and that could start with Charlton this week, who are still dreaming of snatching an automatic promotion slot.

Karl Robinson would love to get one over his former club of course, so he will be firing up his side to support a personal agenda – a task which looks achievable given his Oxford players have delivered 20 points from their last 9 games (6-2-1).

Charlton are in decent shape themselves – unbeaten in 11 now including seven wins, and they even beat Luton last time out. I don’t have a great deal between the sides on current form and given Oxford’s home trends, they look worth backing at 23/10 with Bet365.

Burton host Portsmouth live on Sky Sports at 3pm and this is another match where the approach could be to take the bigger price about the underdogs. Burton are in great form and 11/5 feels hugely generous for another side with 10 wins from 21 home matches in 2018/19.

A +12 goal difference has been achieved in those matches, and they are a tough side to beat who look settled under the excellent Nigel Clough. They look to have come out of a sticky patch in January which was made all the more difficult thanks to the ELF two-leg semi-final with Man City, but since that 1-0 home defeat they have now recorded a 6-6-2 run, with a +12 goal difference. 11 goals in their last three home games also gives them a huge feel-good around the place.

Portsmouth won’t be underestimated, and they have now won seven of their last nine, scoring at least two goals in all bar one of those games. They are not invincible though, and on the road recently conceded two goals at Wycombe, Walsall and Charlton.

This could be an open game, and at 11/5 Burton represent the value.
