Lets start with a big Argentine tussle - as Diego Sebastian Schwartzman faces Leonardo Mayer. We backed the latter in the first round, but will switch our loyalties for this one.

Schwartzman has reached No.20 in the world thanks to his clay form. He's played a whopping 541 matches on the surface, winning 67% of those, and his overall career numbers have seen him play 80% of his career matches on the surface.
He comes into this event bang in form, having reached the semi-final of the Rome Masters, with only Novak Djokovic ending the run eventually. Kei Nishikori, Matteo Berrettini and Albert Ramos all found themselves beaten there. Over the past 52 weeks, Schwartzman has a 13-10 winning record against Top 100 players on clay, winning 57% of service points and 43.6% of receiving points. A combined 100.6%.
Mayer is very similar - his 52 record has been 6-10, and is much more serve orientated. He's won 65% of points on his own serve in that group, and 36.2% of receiving points. That's a crucial factor on these courts, and we're taking Schwartzman to win this one in straight sets at 2/1 with Paddy Power. We expect that price to go, but there is 15/8 with Boyle Sports which is a worthy second choice.

We tipped Laslo Djere in the 1st round, and we're sticking with him in round 2. Over the past 52 weeks he is 16-8 on clay versus top 100 players, winning 63.3% of service points and 38.4% of receiving points in those matches. Add those up and you get a very impressive 101.7%. Not quite elite level, but decent nonetheless.
He takes on Alexei Popyrin - an impressive young Aussie who might just be feeling a long way from home in this one. He's got plenty still to learn on clay - and has played just three matches against Top 100 players on clay over the same 52 week period. Now the numbers here are interesting, with him winning just 56.2% of service points and 35.4% of receiving points in that one - a total of 91.6%. That is unlikely enough to stay in the match here, and the Betfair Sportsbook could be on the long side at 7/5 on this one going 3-0 in favour of Djere.
