David Goffin and Fernando Verdasco kick us off on Manic Monday, and the bookmakers look to be giving Goffin a little bit too much respect in making him their 1/3 favourite in this one. He’s the better player right now – as proved by his run to the final in Halle, but Verdasco is a seasoned campaigner who has proved over the years he can turn it on when needed on grass, and I certainly don’t have this one down as a foregone conclusion.

The pair have a 3-3 head-to-head, but haven’t met since 2017, so there aren’t many clues there. Recent form of course must have played a part in the pricing for this one – Goffin reaching the final only to lose to Federer. We should remember though that he went to three sets in both the 2nd round and the quarter-finals, so was far from dominant up to that point. He’s payed 48 grass court matches in his career.
Verdasco is the more experienced of the men – he’s played 98 games on grass now – so would surely love to get to 100 at Wimbledon. He was made to work against Kyle Edmund in round 2, but came through easily against Thomas Fabbiano in Round 3 which gives him a chance here.
We’ll take Verdasco on +4.5 Games handicap in this one at 10/11.
2.2pts Verdasco +4.5 Games at 10/11 General
