Tottenham v Bayern Munich

The Champions League returns on Tuesday and we're being all patriotic this week and siding with Spurs to see off a Bayern Munich side who appear to be in serious decline after a summer which saw Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery leave the club and the exit of the effective Mats Hummels and Rafinha. There is a significant rebuilding job to be done, and I cannot make them strong favourites to win in England.

Looking at the Elo ratings supports the assertion - they hit a high of 2100 as recently as 2014 but are down to a more normal 1934 now and it looks like their chance to collect some serious European silverware might have passed the obvious window of opportunity.
Spurs remain an interesting case - a squad packed with quality players - Son, Eriksen, Ndombele and Kane can all be match winners on their day and despite being the likely bridesmaids in the Liverpool v Man City title race, there is no shame at all in being shoe-ins for a Champions League finish in the Premier League these days. Spurs looked more together than they have in a long while in their battling performance with 10 men against Southampton, and I'm backing them to kick on and get a result under the lights at the new stadium.
Forget the threat of Lewandowski - he's an exceptional player of course, but overall, Tottenham are being under-rated here, and odds of 23/10 are worth taking.
1pt Tottenham to beat Bayern Munich at 23/10 (General)
