Serie B - Quick Picks

Two bets stand out in the Italian Serie B on Sunday, starting with Crotone in their match away at Pisa.

Pisa are newly promoted into Serie B, having won through the play-offs last season, and have started the season in reasonable form - currently sitting 13th in the division. Our shot based ratings make them slightly worse than - perhaps 14th-15th best in the section, and their 43% of shots taken in matches this season is a pretty weak metric.

Crotone are top of our ratings - and 2nd in the actual table after winning four of their opening seven matches. Their shot data shows an excellent 64% of shots taken in their matches, and 62% of on-target efforts, and they look around 0.9 goals per match better than the average side in the division. We also like Chievo a lot as they tackle Ascoli at home. The visitors avoided the relegation play-offs by a couple of places last season, and escaped the drop in the play-offs the season before, so they are certainly not firmly established in the division - they have not finished inside the top-half since promotion into the division in 2015.

Chievo dropped into the division at the end of last season after an 11 season stint in Serie A, so need to regroup quickly. Now much of the squad has dispersed since then, but the early season numbers suggest they are a key contender for automatic promotion. Their 56% shot ration compares really well to Ascoli (40%), and shot-on-target ratio of 61% also compares well to Ascoli's 47%. In fact, Ascoli's 106 allowed shots is the worth in the division, and their -9 corner difference also suggests a side struggling in the final third.
