Bundesliga 2

Nurenberg have struggled to adapt to life back in Bundesliga 2 this season, but warrant our support this weekend against Regensburg.

They dropped out of the top flight last season, and have seen a high turnover of players since then, as the rebuilding job began in earnest. Our thinking is based solely on what we’ve seen this season therefore. They rank 3rd in shots-ratio, and 3rd in shots-on-target ratio, but turn out top on both metrics over the past six matches as things begin to come together. It’s true, things need to improve at the back, but there are plenty of good signs at the club and a win in this one could see them rise to fifth in the table, so don’t read too much into their current 12th place.
Regensburg shot column reads 106-161 and on-target efforts 41-46, so it’s reasonable to assume that they have probably been fortunate to record an 18-14 goals for/against. Their -24 corner difference is another tell-tale sign that all might not be well.
Looking at a few other bits of data, Nurenberg have averaged 8.1 shots in the box per game compared to just 7 for Regensburg. At the other end, Regensburg have faced 15.6 shots per match, with just 11.5 coming agasint Nurenberg.
At 19/20 we’re willing to get behind Nurenburg here.
2pts Nurenberg to beat Regensburg at 19/20 (General)
