With Phil Parkinson at the helm now at Sunderland, the board will be hoping for consistent results – but he’s already been on the losing side in two of this three matches in charge, and facing an in-form Oxford side looks another significant challenge.

Oxford will surely be bang up for this one, with a tremendous opportunity to land a quarter final shot against one of the big guns, or even an easy route to the semi-finals given someone will draw the winners of the Crawley v Colchester tie.
Oxford are up to fifth in the table now after a run of tremendous results at home, including beating Tranmere, Rochdale, Gillingham and Doncaster 3-0 each and West Ham 4-0. Their most recent form has seen them go 7-3-0, scoring 28 and conceding just five.
The bookies are struggling to split the pair, so it looks like we’ll have to do it for them. A fabulous atmosphere awaits at the Kassam Stadium and Sunderland are well beatable. At 8/5 Oxford are too long in this one.
2pts Oxford to beat Sunderland at 8/5 (Betfred)
